Location: Tri-Tech Skills Center

Hours: 8 hours per day; 181 Days per Year; Required to work summer school if offered - 13 days approximately for additional pay.

Salary: $30.32- $34.44 DOE

  

This is an off-schedule, non-bargaining position.

 

This position will begin with 2024-2025 school year.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pre-Electrical Instructional Assistant will assist in the planning, coordinating, and operation of the Tri-Tech Pre-Electrical program. This position will work jointly with the Tri-Tech Pre-Electrical instructor in supervising and monitoring skill development of the students. The Pre-Electrical program operates mainly at the main Tri-Tech campus but at times at Habitat for Humanity build sites across the community.  The successful candidate will possess a general journey level electrician (EL01) license and have experience in installation, repair, maintenance and testing of commercial, industrial and residential electrical systems. The candidate will be responsible for site safety and ensure the jobsite is safe as well as manage compliance with established safety policies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must present transcripts of highest level of education within 30 days of employment.
  3. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  4. Possess a current First Aid/ CPR Card or be willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  5. Positive recommendations and evaluations in past and present jobs.
  6. Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be self-disciplined and a self-starter.
  7. Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
  8. Must pass a Background Check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting
  9. Completion of Safe School Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.

 QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. The successful candidate will possess a general journey level electrician (EL01) license and have experience in installation, repair, maintenance and testing of commercial, industrial and residential electrical systems.
  2. Evidence of experience training others in residential and light commercial construction from selective demolition, site work, foundations, framing, siding and finish carpentry construction skills.
  3. Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email.
  4. Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
  5. Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  6. Must attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management.
  7. Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety.
  8. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees and management.
  9. Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery and continuous improvement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  1. Bilingual English/Spanish.
  2. Experience working with high school age students.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist the instructor in planning, coordinating, and operation of the Tri-Tech Construction Trades program at the main Tri-Tech campus and Habitat for Humanity sites.
  2. Work with individual and groups of program students.
  3. Assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
  4. Maintain health and safety standards for the program.
  5. Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
  6. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor (Tri-Tech Administration).

  • Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

  • Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
