Required Qualifications:
1. Washington State Career & Technical Education Certification in Sports Medicine, and Work Based Learning.
2. Current First Aid/CPR.
3. Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Washington State Teacher's Certificate with endorsement/major in an additional discipline, highly desirable.
2. Washington State Career & Technical Education certification in related areas, highly desirable.
3. Demonstrated teaching ability teaching Sports Medicine and Health.
4. Evidence of experience providing leadership, guidance and supervision to the youth leadership requirements for the program.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement work-based learning opportunities for students.
6. Recent (within the past five years) experience working as an athletic trainer or in a related field.
7. Experience working with an advisory committee and community partners to enhance the classroom learning environment.
8. Evidence of training or experience in using technology and real world applications to enhance teaching and learning.
9. Training or experience in the development of integrated curriculum.
10. Demonstrated ability to use/learn computer technology for word processing, Excel, Access, and Power Point, electronic grading and attendance, communication by e-mail, and ability to implement computer skills into daily classroom instruction.
11. Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
12. Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
13. Evidence of satisfactory experience in curriculum development, classroom management, and organization for routine detail.
14. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Teach Sports Medicine following the district/state approved curriculum; teach other courses as assigned.
2. Develop, place and monitor students in clinical work-based learning experiences within the school and business community following the state and district work-based learning policies and procedures.
3. Work cooperatively with the athletic trainer in a shared space (the classroom/lab space also serve as the athletic training room).
4. Work with an appropriate advisory committee; attend meetings, review annual program plan and implement advisory committee recommendations.
5. Encourage and promote the Sports Medicine program.
6. Provide supervision and leadership for all students to participate in student leadership activities (appropriate leadership component).
7. Review and update the program plan annually.
8. Develop and maintain program budget; purchase program resources annually.
9. Adhere to safety standards and maintain records as required.
10. Work cooperatively with other staff to align program competencies and performance assessments with district and state approved standards.
11. Maintain open communication with parents, students, staff and administrators.
12. Believe cultural diversity is a strength and have the attitude that we will meet the needs of any child who enters our school.
13. Incorporate technology into the instructional process.
14. Become involved with business and community partnerships to enhance student learning and work based learning opportunities.
15. Be a "team player” by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.
16. Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.
17. Be committed to success for all children.
18. Be flexible and cooperative in schedule changes and accommodating the needs for the use of facilities.

Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
